A simple and very effective little beret. Quick to knit and magical to felt - by hand if you want ultimate control and don’t mind the manual work or by machine; it can be added to a regular (40 degree) machine wash.
The sample in the pictures was treated just so! If after that first wash the hat is still on the large side, repeat the process and it will shrink some more.
Measurements: approx, after a single machine felt and blocking:
- 55cm (22”) circumference measured at band
- 25cm (10”) at widest point, measured lying flat
- 20cm (8”) from band to centre of crown
Materials: 70 gr. of Koigu Felting Merino or similar felting yarn
Metreage: Approx. 200m.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows measure10 x 10 cm (in stocking stitch on the larger needles)
Notions: One set of 4.0 mm needles (use bigger or smaller if needed). One set of 3.75 mm needles (for the band)
