When I first saw the collection of 18 Yarnadelic shades, at Unravel 2020, I immediately knew that I relished the challenge to design a garment that uses all shades. This palette works SO well with SO many Layercakes, that I could not resist.

I loved the idea of creating something that is easy to knit (just stocking stitch in the round), has a twist in its tail (you felt it after knitting it!) as well as in all of its ends (no weaving in!), see the pic showing the twisted tufts 😁

And because it goes with so many Layercake outfits, I chose a garment that can be worn with everything, as soon as the weather starts cooling down.

I'm calling it a poncho for want of a better description, but it's an extended cowl, or a round shawl, or a felted throw-over, and all of the above.

If you compare it to a top-down jumper with a yoke, then you knit it like that, only the separation of sleeves never comes, so you effectively knit a bell-shape.

And then you felt it! For maximum control, hand-felt, or be impatient like me, wet it, and then throw it in the dryer on a high temperature and check its felting progress every 5-10 minutes until you are happy with the result.

This is a one-size knit, and you felt it either more or less depending on the final result you are after. You can re-shape it while you are felting to make it either a bit wider and shorter or narrower and longer.

Needles-size: 3.50 - 4.00mm, depending on whether you are a tighter or looser knitter

Gauge: 21sts x 33 rows = 10 x 10cm
